Data Architect

The Data Architect will manage the data modeling and database architecture for a number of strategic citywide initiatives led by the Mayor’s Office of Operations. S/he will work closely with City agencies, contracted service providers and vendors to perform data profiling, source system analysis and data modeling. Additionally, s/he will participate in the development of innovative strategies to enable better data integration across multiple domains within the City.

Responsibilities

Work with internal and external stakeholders to understand their data and reporting needs, present them with various options and guide them to analytic solutions that best meets their needs.
Develop, update and maintain the conceptual, logical and physical data models capable of supporting existing and future reporting needs.
Perform data profiling of legacy and strategic data source systems to assess data quality and identify issues, inconsistencies and missing data.
Define and build technical and data architectures within the City’s integrated data platform (including data and dimensional modeling).
Develop protocols and governance that promote data standards and data quality across multiple city agencies.
Create and maintain excellent documentation including data dictionaries, source-to-target maps, and database policies and guidelines.
Collaborate with the application developers, ETL team and database administrators to ensure database performance, integrity and security.
Support the development of reports either via SQL queries and/or an enterprise reporting tool such as OBIEE.

Analytical assistance and supervision, including quantitative and qualitative data analysis, the evaluation of best practices, and the identification and assessment of operational improvement opportunities at different agencies.
